My blogging mentors tell me to write about my work and include interesting details about the why and how. How do I describe this drawing?
This drawing is a direct reflection of how I felt when I saw the BP oil spill in 2011. I imagined the fish covered with slick goo, suffocating. Yet, if you've ever seen oil and water mixed you know that the oil creates something like a mirror, reflecting light and images on its slick surface. Even though the fish is covered with the black oil, the reflections move as the oil drips off the body. Swimming can only move the oil so fast.
